Get ready for a smarter, safer journey on India’s National Highways! The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced plans to install innovative QR code signboards across its vast network. These new signboards, set to be implemented by October 3, 2025, will offer commuters quick and easy access to essential project details and crucial emergency contact numbers.
These user-friendly, vertical QR code signboards are designed to deliver comprehensive, project-specific information. Travelers will be able to scan the codes to find the National Highway number, specific highway chainage, and direct contact details for highway patrol, the nearest toll manager, the resident engineer for that section, and the nationwide emergency helpline, 1033.
Strategically positioned, these high-tech signboards will appear at key locations such as wayside amenities, designated rest areas, all toll plazas, truck lay-byes, and at the start and end points of highway sections, as well as general signage areas.
The introduction of these QR code-enabled signboards marks a significant step towards enhancing road safety. By providing immediate access to emergency services and localized information, they will dramatically improve the overall user experience and boost public awareness about the National Highways infrastructure throughout India.
