The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), a public sector undertaking owned by the Telangana government, has announced and credited a substantial Diwali bonus of ₹1.03 lakh to its workforce. This gesture of appreciation was extended to all 39,500 workers employed in the state’s coal mines, as confirmed by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
In an announcement made prior to the formal disbursement, Vikramarka stated, “On behalf of the state government, I am announcing a bonus of ₹400 crore to Singareni workers who light up the nation with their hard work.” SCCL Managing Director N. Balaram further elaborated that the company management had received government orders to disburse the bonus under the Performance Linked Reward (PLR) scheme, with the amounts successfully credited to the workers’ bank accounts on Saturday.
The bonus is specifically designated for workers, excluding officers. Eligibility for the full ₹1.03 lakh bonus is based on workdays logged during the 2024-25 fiscal year: a minimum of 190 days for underground mine workers and 240 days for those in open-cast and surface operations. Workers with fewer qualifying days will receive a pro-rata bonus, provided they have completed at least 30 days of work. However, employees dismissed for misconduct, violence, or damage to company property are not eligible for this bonus.
Balaram highlighted that this Diwali bonus underscores the state government’s ongoing commitment to employee welfare. “This gesture will bring festive cheer to nearly forty thousand Singareni families,” he commented, encouraging employees to maintain their dedication towards achieving the company’s production and performance goals. He also advised the workers to utilize the bonus amount wisely for family needs or savings.
