In a deeply emotional announcement, Balkaur Singh, the father of the late and beloved Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has declared his intention to contest the next Punjab Assembly elections from the Mansa constituency. This decision is driven by a profound desire to fulfill his son’s unrealized political dream.
Addressing a passionate gathering at a Congress party event in Mansa this past Sunday, Mr. Balkaur Singh expressed immense gratitude for the unwavering support he has received from the local community since his son’s tragic passing. “The people of Mansa have been my constant source of strength after I lost my son, and their steadfast support continues to uplift our family,” he shared.
With a resolute voice, Mr. Singh appealed directly to the attendees for their backing. “We will bravely fight these elections, and I wholeheartedly ask for your support. You represent my core strength, my foundation. It was my son’s fervent, unfulfilled wish to secure a seat in the Vidhan Sabha. We will enter this election, we will emerge victorious, and I will proudly carry a photograph of my son into the Assembly, finally making his dream a tangible reality.”
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known universally as Sidhu Moosewala, was tragically shot and killed in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022. Prior to this devastating event, Moosewala had unsuccessfully contested the Mansa seat in the 2022 Assembly polls, running on a Congress party ticket, where he faced defeat against a candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party.
