KHAMMAM – A District in Mourning
A deep sense of shock and sorrow has gripped Patharlapadu village in Khammam district’s Chinthakani mandal following the brutal murder of a revered figure, Samineni Rama Rao, a veteran leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Friday, October 31, 2025, when three unidentified assailants attacked 70-year-old Rama Rao at his residence. He was reportedly preparing for his morning walk when the attackers, armed with knives, slit his throat, ending his life instantly.
Samineni Rama Rao was a prominent voice, having served as the general secretary for the CPI(M)-affiliated Rythu Sangham across the unified Andhra Pradesh. His untimely and violent death has sent ripples of grief and anger through the entire district, particularly among the CPI(M) cadre and members of its various front organizations, who quickly converged on the village upon hearing the devastating news.
Khammam Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt swiftly visited the crime scene to oversee the initial stages of the investigation. Authorities have deployed a specialized clues team and a dog squad, utilizing every available resource to track down and apprehend those responsible for this heinous act.
Expressing his profound grief, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka condemned the murder, vowing that justice would be served. In a public statement, he assured that the perpetrators would be identified, captured, and brought to face the full force of the law. He further instructed police officials to leverage forensic expertise and advanced technology to expedite the murder investigation and ensure the immediate arrest of the culprits.
