A special police team from Bengaluru’s North West division has successfully apprehended six individuals, including three minors, in connection with a series of alarming vandalism incidents. Over 30 parked vehicles were extensively damaged across multiple western Bengaluru localities, causing significant distress to residents.
The detained individuals have been identified as Jayanth (19), Likith, and Gagan (23), alongside three minors. They face charges of vandalism and violations under the Arms Act. Authorities are actively searching for two additional suspects believed to be involved in the destructive acts, according to North West division DCP Nagesh D.L.
The investigation was prompted after numerous vehicle owners discovered their cars and bikes damaged on Thursday and promptly filed complaints. CCTV footage from nearby residences proved crucial, showing the accused, clad in hooded sweatshirts, wielding clubs and other dangerous weapons during their destructive rampage. Areas particularly affected included Magadi Road, Byadarahalli, and Madanayakanahalli.
While the police continue their probe, the exact motive behind the vandalism remains elusive. Initial suspicions point towards the influence of alcohol as a contributing factor. Investigators are working diligently to establish the precise reasons behind these acts and to uncover any prior criminal history of those involved.
Police also suspect that this same group might be linked to a robbery that occurred on the Avalahalli-Doddaballapur Road, potentially having committed it shortly after their vandalism spree.
