A shocking incident of road rage unfolded in Azhikkal, Kannur, Kerala, on Sunday afternoon around 4 p.m., when an elderly man was viciously attacked by a group of young men. The assault reportedly stemmed from a heated argument over yielding the right of way on the road.
The victim, identified as Balakrishnan, a resident of Azhikkal, officially filed a complaint with the police on Monday, prompting immediate action.
What makes this incident particularly alarming is a video of the brutal assault, recorded by the assailants themselves, which has since spread rapidly across social media. The disturbing footage captures Mr. Balakrishnan being struck while still inside his car, then forcibly pulled out and subjected to repeated slaps to his face in broad daylight. The violence didn’t stop there; the video further shows the youths pursuing him into a nearby shop to continue their attack, only ceasing when concerned local residents intervened to chase them away.
During the recorded assault, the attackers can be heard alleging that Mr. Balakrishnan used offensive language after they confronted him about his vehicle’s parking.
Following Mr. Balakrishnan’s formal complaint, law enforcement has registered a First Information Report (FIR) and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
Police officials have visited the scene of the crime to gather crucial evidence. The individuals involved in the assault have not yet been apprehended, and authorities are currently looking into whether they have any prior criminal history.
