An audacious highway robbery unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning near Mannuthy, along the Thrissur–Palakkad National Highway. A gang, arriving in a car, reportedly targeted Mubarak, an Edappal resident and private bus owner, making off with a staggering ₹75 lakh.
According to initial reports, Mubarak had just returned to Thrissur at dawn, carrying a substantial sum of money from a recent vehicle sale in Bengaluru. As he disembarked from his bus at Mannuthy around 5 a.m., he was swiftly surrounded by the culprits. They forcibly snatched the bag containing the cash before making a rapid getaway.
Authorities have immediately launched a comprehensive search operation across the national highway and adjacent routes, aiming to track down the suspects’ vehicle. Investigators believe the robbers possessed intimate knowledge of Mubarak’s travel itinerary and the cash he was transporting, strongly suggesting insider involvement in the meticulously planned crime.
A dedicated police team, spearheaded by Ollur ACP Sudheeran, is actively pursuing leads. CCTV footage from the area is said to show one of the suspects fleeing with the bag, which is presumed to hold the stolen fortune. The Mannuthy police department is intensifying its efforts to apprehend those responsible and ensure the recovery of the stolen money.
