In a brazen overnight operation, burglars executed a significant heist at a Tasmac liquor outlet in Eraivankadu village, near Pallikonda town in Vellore. The audacious thieves made off with a staggering 900 liquor bottles and a substantial ₹45,000 in cash, all occurring along the busy Chennai – Bengaluru Highway (NH-48) this past Sunday.
The discovery was made by 39-year-old salesman K. Sridhar when he arrived to open the shop around noon. He immediately noticed that the protective grill gate had been forcibly broken. Upon entering, Sridhar was met with a scene of disarray, finding numerous liquor racks emptied. To further complicate the investigation, the culprits also ensured the hard drives of the CCTV cameras were removed, and the surveillance equipment itself was damaged, indicating a calculated effort to evade identification.
Sridhar promptly alerted the Pallikonda police, who swiftly launched an investigation. Officers are currently reviewing available footage from other cameras along the highway to piece together the sequence of events. Disturbingly, police revealed that this isn’t an isolated incident for this particular Tasmac outlet; it marks the second time in just a few months that the store has been targeted by thieves. A formal case has been registered, and a thorough investigation is actively ongoing to apprehend those responsible for this repeat offense.
