Kottayam police have made a significant breakthrough, apprehending 59-year-old Sam K. George in Bengaluru. He stands accused of a heinous crime: allegedly strangling his second wife, Jessy, and then callously discarding her body in a deep gorge within Idukki district. Jessy, aged 50, was a resident of Kanakkary in Kottayam. Her severely decomposed remains were eventually discovered in a ravine near Cheppukulam, Udumbannoor, approximately 60 kilometers from her home.
Investigations by the police revealed a troubled history between Sam, a native of Ettumanur, and Jessy. The couple had married in 1994 after Sam’s first wife had left him. For the past 15 years, persistent arguments had led them to live separately, occupying different floors of their house near the Ratnagiri church in Kanakkary. It is alleged that on the evening of September 26, Sam descended to the ground floor where Jessy resided and choked her to death.
The following morning, in a chilling attempt to cover his tracks, Sam reportedly transported Jessy’s body by car to Cheppukulam and threw it into the gorge from the roadside. The alarm was raised on September 29 when a friend of Jessy’s, unable to reach her by phone, reported her missing to the authorities. This initiated a thorough investigation that led police to Karnataka, where they successfully located and took Sam K. George into custody.
