In a deeply disturbing development from Kerala’s Kasaragod district, nine individuals, including two government staff members, have been taken into custody. They are implicated in the sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy, whom they reportedly met through a mobile application catering to the LGBTQ community. Police confirmed the arrests on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
A senior police official revealed that the young boy endured sexual assault over a two-year period, with the incidents occurring at his residence and various other locations, including in the Kannur and Kozhikode districts. A total of 14 different men are alleged to be involved in these heinous acts.
The horrifying ordeal came to light when the boy’s mother witnessed a man fleeing their home upon seeing her. Prompted by her observation, she spoke with her son, who bravely disclosed the abuse. She then reached out to a child protection helpline, which subsequently alerted the police.
Extensive POCSO Cases Filed and SIT Formed
Following the boy’s detailed statement, authorities have initiated 14 distinct cases under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012 over the past two days. To ensure a thorough investigation into the eight cases originating in Kasaragod district, a dedicated Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been assembled, comprising a Deputy Superintendent of Police and four Inspectors.
The remaining six cases, pertaining to alleged assaults that took place in Kozhikode and Kannur districts, have been duly transferred to the respective local authorities for further investigation.
The alleged perpetrators in this case range in age from 25 to 51 years, with one of the arrested individuals identified as a Railways employee.
