Kuna Ramrarao, a recently retired Assistant Commissioner of CGST and Customs, has officially joined the Congress party. His induction took place at a meeting in Vijayawada, presided over by Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila Reddy, according to a press release issued on Saturday.
Hailing from Balada village in the Kotturu mandal of Pathapatnam, Mr. Ramarao dedicated three decades to central government service across various cities. His decision to enter politics with the Congress was facilitated by Srikakulam Youth Congress president Pudi Kiran Kumar, who played a key role in arranging his party induction.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Ramarao articulated his motivation, stating his choice to serve the community through the Congress party. He highlighted the party’s historical contributions to Srikakulam’s development, including significant infrastructure projects like the Vamsadhara irrigation project. He extended his gratitude to Mr. Kiran Kumar for orchestrating his entry into the national party under the leadership of Ms. Sharmila.
Adding to the sentiment, Mr. Kiran Kumar expressed confidence in the Congress’s future, predicting a return to its former prominence in the district. He noted that several leaders from other political parties are showing keen interest in rejoining the Congress ranks.
