SDM College of Engineering and Technology (SDMCET) in Dharwad is buzzing with excitement as it prepares for its 15th graduation day this Saturday. A grand total of 582 brilliant engineering graduates and 17 dedicated postgraduates will proudly receive their well-earned degrees.
The esteemed Director of the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI), Girish Maraddi, will grace the occasion as the chief guest, delivering an inspiring convocation address. The ceremony, scheduled for 10 a.m., will be presided over by Jeevandar Kumar, Secretary of the SDME Society.
During a recent press conference, SDMCET Principal Ramesh Chakrasali highlighted the outstanding achievements of the graduating class. A special moment will be the awarding of the prestigious Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade gold medal to K.N. Bindu from the Chemical Engineering Department, who achieved an exceptional Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 9.99.
Adding to the celebration, 28 candidates who have successfully earned their doctoral degrees from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and other respected institutions will also be recognized with certificates of appreciation. The event will further honor top-ranking students from various departments with endowment awards and prizes for the top three scorers.
Professor Chakrasali also proudly shared that SDMCET has forged 25 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with various prominent companies. These strategic partnerships aim to boost education, training, research, internships, and employment opportunities for their students. This year alone, an impressive 90-plus companies extended job offers to 518 students, a testament to the college’s unwavering commitment to student success and industry readiness.
