In a notable administrative move, the Rajasthan government has appointed senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Sachin Mittal as the new Commissioner of Jaipur. This appointment comes as part of a broader reshuffle involving 34 IPS officers across the state, including key Director General (DG)-rank positions.
Mittal, a 1996-batch IPS officer, previously served as ADG (Personnel) at the police headquarters. He now replaces Biju George Joseph, a 1995-batch officer, who had assumed the role in August 2023 and has now been appointed as ADG (Personnel).
The reshuffle also sees Sanjay Agarwal, a 1992-batch officer, moving from the position of DG (Intelligence) to DG (Law and Order). Agarwal was previously considered a potential candidate for the DGP post.
Other significant appointments include Vishal Bansal, who transitions from ADG (Law and Order) to ADG (SOG). Govind Gupta, a 1993-batch officer and former DG (Prisons), has been appointed as DG (Anti-Corruption Bureau). His tenure as DG (Prisons) saw several initiatives aimed at enhancing jail security, particularly following incidents like the escape of inmates from Jaipur Central Jail.
Ashok Rathore will now serve as the DG (Prisons), succeeding Gupta. Additionally, Anil Paliwal, a 1994-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new DG (Training and Traffic), while Anand Srivastava from the same batch will head the SOG.
V.K. Singh, formerly ADG (SOG-ATS), has been assigned the role of ADG (Law and Order). Singh played a crucial role in investigating major recruitment exam paper leak cases, including the SI Recruitment 2021 scam.
Furthermore, Dinesh MN, recognized for his leadership in several high-profile operations, has been appointed as ADG (Anti-Terrorist Squad and Anti-Gangster Task Force) in Jaipur.
