The Sabari Airport Action Committee recently held a demonstration, marching to the Pathanamthitta District Collectorate. Their urgent plea was directed at the district administration: to thoroughly investigate the Kerala High Court’s recent proposal to construct the much-anticipated Sabari Airport on the readily available government-owned Kodumon plantation.
The march, a significant show of public support, was officially inaugurated by Thomas Muttuveli Corepiscopa, with the committee’s president, Varghese Perayil, presiding over the event. The atmosphere was charged with the collective aspiration for a new airport.
During their impassioned address, the committee members strongly asserted that developing the airport at the Kodumon site isn’t just a matter of convenience; it’s a strategic move that aligns perfectly with both explicit legal directives and the overarching goals for regional development. They called for immediate and decisive action from the administration, emphasizing the need to capitalize on the High Court’s valuable suggestion without delay.
