In a significant move, the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has expelled 10 of its leaders, including one Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The expulsion is reportedly due to engaging in ‘anti-party activities’. This action comes just a day after the party had already removed 27 other leaders, a group that included two sitting MLAs and five former legislators. The expelled MLA, Fateh Bahadur Singh from Dehri, is said to be contesting the upcoming assembly elections as a candidate against the party’s official nominee, having been denied a nomination himself. The RJD’s state president, Mangani Lal Mandal, confirmed the expulsions in a statement, naming Singh and nine others for their involvement in activities deemed detrimental to the party. Among the expelled are state vice president Satish Kumar and former MLAs Gulam Jilani Warsi and Reyazul Haq Raju. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s IT cell head, Amit Malviya, commented on the situation, suggesting that the RJD might soon find itself without any active members or voters at this rate. The state of Bihar is preparing for elections, which are scheduled to take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the results to be announced on November 14.
