Bharatpur, Rajasthan: In a significant development, authorities have arrested 27 individuals and detained two minors following a violent incident in Bharatpur district where police personnel were attacked and vehicles were damaged. The clashes reportedly stemmed from a land dispute in Seupura village.
The situation turned volatile on Monday when approximately 200 people gathered at Bhim Nagar Tiraha in Bayana town, obstructing the Bharatpur-Karauli state highway. This blockade caused a substantial traffic jam spanning nearly two kilometers.
When law enforcement arrived to disperse the crowd, they were met with resistance. Protesters allegedly resorted to stone-pelting, resulting in injuries to police officers and damage to two police vehicles. Bharatpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Digant Anand stated, “After a land dispute in the village, around 200 people gathered at Bhim Nagar Tiraha in Bayana town. They blocked the state highway and attacked police personnel, damaging vehicles when officials tried to reason with them.”
In the aftermath, police successfully identified and apprehended 27 individuals involved in the violence. Additionally, two minors were taken into custody. Earlier, two women had also been arrested in connection with the incident.
The arrested individuals have been presented in court and remanded to judicial custody until November 4. They face charges under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
