Bharatpur: Law enforcement in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district has apprehended 27 individuals and detained two minors following a violent confrontation that erupted due to a land dispute. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, involved an attack on police personnel and damage to official vehicles.
The unrest began in Seupura village between two groups reportedly locked in a land dispute. The situation intensified on Monday when approximately 200 people converged at Bhim Nagar Tiraha in Bayana town, blocking the Bharatpur-Karauli state highway and causing a significant traffic jam.
When police intervened to clear the blockade and pacify the crowd, they were met with resistance, including alleged stone-pelting, which resulted in injuries to officers and damage to two police vehicles. Bharatpur Superintendent of Police Digant Anand stated, “After a land dispute in the village, around 200 people gathered at Bhim Nagar Tiraha in Bayana town. They blocked the state highway and attacked police personnel, damaging vehicles when officials tried to reason with them.”
Following the incident, authorities identified and arrested 27 individuals involved in the violence, while two minors were taken into custody. Earlier, two women had also been arrested in connection with the events.
The accused have been presented in court and remanded to judicial custody until November 4. They face charges under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
