Following the decision by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and other Opposition parties in Maharashtra to organize a major rally on November 1, 2025, calling on the Election Commission of India (ECI) to purge ‘bogus voters’ from the electoral rolls, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has released a promotional teaser for its own rally, aptly named “Satyacha Morcha” (Rally of Truth).
The rally’s central theme is encapsulated in its slogan: “Sanvidhan Vachva, Lokshahi Jagva” (Save Constitution, Grow Democracy). This demonstration is scheduled to commence from Fashion Street in Churchgate, Mumbai, on November 1, 2025.
The MNS teaser prominently features its chief, Raj Thackeray, issuing a strong warning that no elections should be conducted in Maharashtra until the voters’ list is thoroughly cleansed. He also urged citizens to remain vigilant regarding this critical issue.
Earlier, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), in collaboration with the MNS, held a joint press conference. During this event, the MNS alleged that approximately 96 lakh ‘bogus voters’ have been illicitly added to the State’s voter list. Sanjay Raut, a prominent voice from the Opposition, emphasized that since the Election Commission is seemingly reluctant to acknowledge the significant problems with the voters’ lists, it has become imperative for them to take their concerns to the streets.
Opposition leaders have also engaged in several discussions with Nationalist Congress President (SP) president Sharad Pawar concerning the upcoming rally. On October 14, 2025, representatives from both the MVA and the MNS met with State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare and Chief Electoral Officer S. Chockalingam. They pressed for an urgent investigation into the alleged discrepancies within the voters’ lists and demanded prompt rectification of these anomalies ahead of the impending rural and urban body elections, which are mandated to be completed by January 31, 2026.
