Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, has made a serious accusation: he alleges that Prime Minister Narendra Modi orchestrated “vote theft” to secure victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to reporters in Wayanad, Kerala, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, the influential Congress MP declared that he is preparing to detonate a “hydrogen bomb” of evidence. This revelation, he asserted, will leave no Indian in doubt about the alleged electoral malpractices and will “completely shatter the reality of the situation.”
Gandhi emphasized, “We possess undeniable, open-and-shut proof for our claims. You’ve witnessed my previous press conferences; we don’t speak without concrete evidence. We have 100% proof of several incidents, and these details will emerge very soon.”
When pressed on whether these allegations pertained to the Lok Sabha election results in Varanasi, the constituency represented by the Prime Minister, Mr. Gandhi chose to remain coy, stating it was “left to the media to guess and speculate.” He firmly added, “I will fulfill my commitment and deliver on my promise.”
Further elaborating on the matter, Mr. Gandhi highlighted an ongoing Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe in Karnataka. This investigation is specifically looking into “vote theft” allegations connected to the Aland Assembly constituency.
CEC Under Fire
In a sharp critique, Gandhi slammed the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Gyanesh Kumar. He asserted that “The CID has explicitly requested information regarding the phone numbers used to execute this ‘vote chori’ (vote theft). However, the CEC is refusing to provide the Karnataka CID with this vital information. There can be no stronger indictment of the Chief Election Commissioner than this.”
