Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met with the family of Hari Om Valmiki, a Dalit man who was tragically lynched in Rae Bareli. Gandhi alleged that the Uttar Pradesh administration had intimidated the family and attempted to block his visit. He was accompanied by Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma during his visit to Fatehpur, where he spent approximately 30 minutes with the family in the Turab Ali ka Tola locality.
Speaking to ANI, Gandhi stated, “This morning, the government threatened the family against meeting me… It’s not important whether the victims’ family meets me or not, but what is important is that these people are not criminals. They have committed no mistake.”
Hari Om Valmiki, a resident of Fatehpur district, was killed by a mob in the Unchahar area of Rae Bareli on October 2, on the suspicion of theft. Authorities have reported the arrest of 12 individuals in connection with the incident.
