The dedicated Rachakonda She Teams have significantly stepped up their efforts against harassment and stalking, successfully apprehending a remarkable 171 offenders within a mere fifteen-day span. Commissioner of Police G. Sudheer Babu reiterated the police force’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that anyone found harassing women will face serious repercussions.
Operating as a crucial part of the Rachakonda Women Safety Wing, these specialized teams carried out discreet decoy operations, with officers working undercover in plain clothes. Their patrols covered vital public spaces, including bustling bus stops, railway and metro stations, college campuses, vibrant markets, and other common gathering points. Individuals caught in the act of harassing women or girls were promptly detained, with robust video evidence supporting their arrests. Following their apprehension, offenders were presented in court and, in many cases, underwent mandatory counseling sessions alongside their parents.
From October 1st to 15th, the She Teams processed a total of 194 complaints. These included 40 cases of phone harassment, 74 instances of abuse through social media, and 80 direct harassment reports. From these cases, eight individuals faced serious criminal charges, 81 were booked for minor offenses, and 88 received counseling, as reported by DCP T. Usharani, the head of the Women Safety Wing.
Among the critical incidents addressed, the She Teams successfully apprehended a man accused of sexually assaulting his minor niece at his Hyderabad residence. The assault reportedly occurred while the young girl was staying there for EAMCET counseling. Prompt action was taken following the victim’s complaint, resulting in a criminal case being registered and the accused being taken into custody.
In a separate incident, two men faced charges for online abuse and harassment, as well as making false accusations against a woman. This stemmed from an earlier altercation in July 2025 during which they had assaulted her daughter. The She Teams swiftly intervened based on the mother’s complaint, leading to the arrest of the two individuals.
Further demonstrating their effectiveness, the teams also arrested a man who had deceptively lured a woman under the guise of offering software training, only to later sexually assault her. The arrest followed the victim’s courageous decision to approach the She Teams for help.
Beyond their enforcement activities, the She Teams are also dedicated to prevention through education. During the first two weeks of October, they successfully organized 79 awareness programs, reaching more than 13,500 individuals. These sessions provided crucial information on women’s rights, legal safeguards, and essential safety protocols. Additionally, in unannounced metro train checks, seven men were caught illegally occupying women’s compartments and were subsequently fined by metro authorities.
