On Wednesday, the police team investigating the alleged defamation of CPI(M) leader K.J. Shine questioned YouTuber K.M. Shajahan. Shajahan, who previously served as private secretary to the late Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and is one of the accused in the case, was interrogated for several hours at the cybercrime police station in Ernakulam Rural, Aluva, before being released at 7:30 p.m. The investigation team, led by Munambam DySP S. Jayakrishnan, conducted the questioning.
Upon his release, Shajahan required a police escort to leave the station. A tense atmosphere had developed outside, with Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) workers gathered and chanting provocative slogans.
Shajahan arrived at the police station at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, honoring the notice served to him two days earlier by the investigators.
In a related development, C.K. Gopalakrishnan, a Congress worker and another individual accused in the case, has sought anticipatory bail from a local court. This move came after police searched his residence on Monday, September 22, 2025, and confiscated his mobile phone. Authorities noted that Gopalakrishnan was not present during the search.
The third accused, Yaser from Edappal, who is believed to operate a Facebook page under the name ‘Kondotty Abu’, remains untraced by the police. Investigators suspect he may have left the country.
Furthermore, police are yet to file a First Information Report (FIR) regarding separate complaints lodged by Gopalakrishnan’s wife and a female relative. They allege that they have been subjected to cyberattacks by suspected Left sympathizers following the registration of the case against the Congress worker.
