A shocking incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon, October 25, 2025, near the Peda Amberpet toll plaza, where a private bus overturned, leaving eight people injured. This harrowing event comes merely a day after a devastating collision in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, which claimed 19 lives when another private bus collided with a two-wheeler, underscoring urgent road safety concerns.
The bus involved in Saturday’s incident was identified as a NEU GO Travels vehicle (registration AP 39 UP 1963). It was en route from Miyapur to Guntur, carrying a total of six passengers, along with its two drivers and one conductor.
Inspector Ashok Reddy of Abdullapurmet police confirmed that the accident took place around 12:35 p.m. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver was operating the vehicle rashly and negligently, causing it to lose control. The bus then tragically struck the central divider just before the toll plaza, resulting in its overturn.
Among the injured, four passengers — Shaik Zaheer (20), Akula Gayatri (23), and A. Prabhakar (30), all from Guntur, along with Kasthik Subash (23) from Mangalagiri — received immediate medical attention at a private hospital in Hayathnagar. The remaining individuals on board, including passengers Mounica (26) and Prathusha (26), both from Guntur, as well as the two bus drivers, Vera Anjaneya Reddy (63) and Srinivas (35), were transported to Apollo DRDO Hospital in Kanchanbagh for treatment.
The Abdullapurmet police have initiated a formal investigation into the accident to determine the exact cause and any liabilities. Authorities also confirmed that despite the incident, traffic flow near the toll plaza remained unaffected.
