A significant security lapse has been uncovered at Bengaluru’s central prison in Parappana Agrahara, where a 29-year-old prison warden was apprehended while allegedly attempting to smuggle a mobile phone to an inmate.
The warden, identified as Amar Praje, reportedly tried to bypass the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) personnel at the prison entrance. His suspicious behavior led to a thorough search, during which a mobile phone was discovered cleverly hidden in his undergarment.
Following the discovery, Praje was immediately handed over to the prison superintendent, who then lodged a formal complaint with the police, calling for a detailed investigation into the incident.
Authorities suspect this wasn’t an isolated incident, believing that Amar Praje may have previously facilitated the smuggling of various contrabands into the prison for financial gain.
The ongoing police investigation aims to uncover the full extent of this alleged racket and identify any other individuals who may be involved.
This latest incident comes on the heels of previous controversies within the same facility. Recently, seven prison officials faced suspension due to negligence after an inmate, a known rowdysheeter, openly celebrated his birthday inside the prison with cakes and an apple garland. A video of the illicit celebration, filmed on a mobile phone, had quickly gone viral, highlighting earlier concerns about internal security and official oversight.
