During President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Kerala, an unexpected incident occurred at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Pramadam. A section of the recently built concrete helipad collapsed shortly after her helicopter landed, trapping the aircraft’s wheels in a depression.
Officials at the scene explained that the helipad had been prepared last minute, and the concrete had not fully cured, making it unable to withstand the helicopter’s weight. The situation was quickly addressed by police and fire department personnel who were present. They physically pushed the helicopter out of the sunken area, enabling it to move freely again.
The President was in Kerala as part of a four-day visit, which included plans to offer prayers at the Sabarimala Temple. The helipad location was reportedly changed due to inclement weather, leading to the hurried completion of the facility.
