President Droupadi Murmu recently paid tribute to former President K.R. Narayanan by unveiling his bust at the Kerala Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
During the ceremony, President Murmu eloquently described K.R. Narayanan’s life as a profound testament to courage, unwavering perseverance, and deep self-belief. She emphasized how, through immense dedication and the transformative power of education, he transcended humble beginnings to reach the highest constitutional office in India.
“His remarkable academic achievements symbolize what focused determination and ample opportunity can truly accomplish when driven by a clear purpose,” President Murmu stated.
Reflecting on his distinguished diplomatic career, the President noted that even before venturing into politics, K.R. Narayanan had forged an eminent path in the Indian Foreign Service. There, he diligently championed India’s core values of peace, justice, and international cooperation with utmost sincerity. Throughout his entire life, she added, he remained unwavering in his commitment to the principles of fairness and inclusivity.
“K.R. Narayanan has bequeathed a rich and invaluable legacy of morality, integrity, compassion, and a vibrant democratic spirit,” President Murmu affirmed. “As we remember him today, we must draw inspiration from his life, which was entirely devoted to nation-building, striving to forge a more inclusive, just, and compassionate India for all.”
She concluded by expressing her firm confidence that K.R. Narayanan’s inspiring memory would continue to motivate future generations to uphold the fundamental values of equality, integrity, and dedicated public service that he so passionately embodied.
Also in attendance at this significant event were former President Ram Nath Kovind, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, and Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.
