PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss today expressed strong disapproval of Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M. Appavu, accusing him of not acknowledging a crucial letter detailing significant leadership changes within the party. The letter proposed that Dharmapuri MLA S.P. Venkateshwaran would replace Pennagaram MLA G.K. Mani as the party’s floor leader, among other vital internal appointments.
In an official statement, Dr. Anbumani characterized the Speaker’s inaction as unacceptable. He highlighted that he had formally informed Mr. Appavu about the unanimous decision made by PMK MLAs during a meeting on September 24 in Panaiyur, near Chennai. These changes also included the appointment of Mettur MLA S. Sadhasivam as the deputy floor leader and Mailam MLA C. Sivakumar as the party’s whip in the House.
Dr. Anbumani further pointed out that earlier communications regarding the removal of Salem West MLA and former PMK whip R. Arul from the party’s primary membership, and C. Sivakumar’s subsequent selection as the new whip, had also been ignored by the Speaker.
He alleged that, in assembly debates, only G.K. Mani had consistently been given speaking opportunities. Dr. Anbumani urged Mr. Appavu to promptly acknowledge and formalize these party leadership adjustments, threatening organized protests if his appeals continue to be disregarded.
