Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently stated that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms have significantly boosted India’s economy, creating new employment opportunities, especially within the MSME and retail sectors.
Speaking virtually at the 17th Rozgar Mela, PM Modi underscored that empowering the nation’s youth is a central pillar of government policy, influencing everything from economic strategies to foreign relations.
GST Reforms Drive Economic Momentum
The Prime Minister hailed the latest GST reforms as a landmark achievement, noting that their benefits extend beyond mere savings for citizens. He added, “The next-generation GST reforms are also expanding opportunities for employment and growth.”
Highlighting a surge in consumer activity, Modi mentioned that the country witnessed record sales during the Dhanteras and Diwali festive seasons. “We recently saw record sales on Dhanteras and Diwali, setting new records and shattering old ones. This demonstrates how the GST reforms have given the country’s economy a new impetus,” he stated.
He further observed that the positive effects of these reforms are particularly evident in the MSME and retail sectors, where job creation is accelerating in manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and distribution.
Over 11 Lakh Jobs Facilitated Through Rozgar Melas
During the Rozgar Mela event, appointment letters were distributed to over 51,000 individuals for government positions. To date, the initiative has facilitated the issuance of more than 11 lakh recruitment letters nationwide.
“Empowering the youth is a priority of the BJP-led NDA government,” PM Modi affirmed. “India is the youngest nation in the world, and the strength of its youth is one of its greatest assets.”
Global Collaborations to Open New Avenues for Youth
Referencing India’s strengthening ties with the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Modi mentioned, “Recently, the British Prime Minister visited India. During his visit, India and the UK agreed to increase investment in sectors like AI, fintech, and clean energy. The free trade agreement signed a few months ago will also create new opportunities.”
He expressed confidence that similar investment collaborations will enable Indian youth to engage with international projects and enhance their skill sets. “These collaborations will strengthen exports and open up new avenues of growth and opportunity for India’s youth,” the Prime Minister concluded.
Union Ministers Jitendra Singh and Ajay Tamta were present in New Delhi to distribute appointment letters to candidates as part of the nationwide Rozgar Mela initiative.
