Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav has strongly affirmed the state government’s commitment to implementing the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in medical colleges. His primary objective, he stated, is to significantly enhance facilities for patients, categorically reassuring the public that these medical institutions will not be privatized.
During his visit to Anantapur on Thursday, the Minister conducted an awareness program titled “Super GST-Super Savings.” Accompanied by Anantapur MP Ambica Lakshminarayana and Collector O. Anand, he engaged with medical shop owners in the Tower Clock area, discussing the positive impact of recent GST reforms on medicine prices, which have seen a reduction.
Addressing the media, Mr. Keshav reiterated that the PPP model is being adopted to deliver superior healthcare services to patients. He emphasized, “No patient will face an additional financial burden. There’s a clear distinction between the PPP model and outright privatization of a medical college. YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to misunderstand this crucial difference.”
The Minister highlighted that the state’s efforts are progressing well, bolstered by the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s central government. He further credited Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership for safeguarding the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant’s interests, securing a dedicated railway zone, and driving beneficial GST reforms within the state.
