In a disturbing incident of misconduct aboard an aircraft, a passenger traveling on a flight from Chennai to Hyderabad has been arrested. The man, reportedly in an inebriated state, is accused of inappropriately touching a female fellow passenger. The incident came to light when the woman, traveling with her husband, noticed the man’s hand and alerted the crew, according to a report.
The accused, who is in his mid-40s and employed in Chennai, was on a journey from Chennai to Uttar Pradesh, with a stopover in Hyderabad. He was seated next to the 38-year-old IT professional and her husband. While he had dozed off, the woman realized she was being touched inappropriately and raised an alarm.
Following the woman’s complaint filed with the RGIA police upon landing, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the BNS. The accused, however, has claimed that the contact was accidental.
The airline operating the flight has not yet been identified, and no official statement has been released by any carrier regarding the incident at the time of reporting.
This event brings to mind a similar incident last month, where a passenger, claiming to be an army officer, caused a disturbance on a flight from Colombo to Delhi. He allegedly molested a fellow passenger and made inappropriate gestures towards the flight staff before being handed over to security upon arrival.
