In a significant announcement, two-time Olympic medalist P.V. Sindhu has confirmed her withdrawal from all remaining BWF Tour events for the 2025 season. The decision comes as she prioritizes a complete recovery from a persistent foot injury that she sustained just before the European leg of the tour.
The 30-year-old Hyderabadi badminton star shared that this crucial step was taken after extensive discussions with her dedicated support team and leading medical professionals, including the esteemed sports orthopaedist, Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala.
“After consulting closely with my team and with the invaluable guidance of the incredible Dr. Pardiwala, we concluded that stepping back from the remaining 2025 BWF Tour events was the best course of action for me,” Sindhu stated in a press release issued on Monday, October 27, 2025.
Sindhu openly acknowledged the challenges of dealing with injuries: “The foot injury I picked up before the European leg hasn’t fully healed. While it’s never easy to accept, injuries are an unavoidable part of any athlete’s journey. They truly test your resilience and patience, but more importantly, they ignite a fierce desire to come back stronger than ever.”
Her path to recovery is already in full swing. Sindhu confirmed that her rehabilitation and intensive training are being meticulously overseen by Dr. Wayne Lombard, with vital support from Nisha Rawat and Chetna, and under the expert tutelage of her coach, Irwansyah Adi Pratama.
Expressing her gratitude, Sindhu added, “With the constant care from Dr. Wayne Lombard, the unwavering support from Nisha Rawat and Chetna, and the expert guidance of my coach Irwansyah, I am truly surrounded by a team that empowers me every single day.”
“Their belief in my potential fuels my own drive, and I feel incredibly motivated, grateful, and even more determined for what the future holds,” she concluded.
The Commonwealth Games champion has faced a challenging period recently, grappling with both injuries and inconsistent form. Following an early exit at the Paris Games, her 2025 season has also seen its share of ups and downs, including several first and second-round exits. Her notable performances this season include reaching the quarterfinals at the India Open Super 750, World Championships, and China Masters Super 750.
Last year, Sindhu showcased her formidable talent by almost clinching a top-tier title at the Malaysia Masters, where she finished as the runner-up. She also secured a victory at the Syed Modi International Super 300 event last December.
