Osmania University’s administration has vehemently rejected claims of irregularities surrounding its recent Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) promotions. In a statement released on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the university affirmed its unwavering commitment to a governance system founded on merit, talent, and complete transparency, dismissing any reports suggesting otherwise.
The promotion process, successfully concluded on September 29, saw the elevation of a significant number of faculty members: eight senior professors, 33 professors, and 54 associate professors across 41 diverse departments.
However, the Osmania University Teachers Association (OUTA) raised concerns, alleging unfair practices within these promotions. The university administration swiftly responded, clarifying that OUTA’s executive committee term expired in September 2024, rendering it an invalid body to represent such claims.
The university further assured the public that the entire promotion exercise was conducted with utmost transparency. Every stage was meticulously video-recorded, and the process was overseen by key witnesses, including the Officer on Special Duty to the Vice-Chancellor, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences S. Jithendra Kumar Naik, and Dean, Development and UGC Affairs B. Lavanya.
Strongly condemning the creation of controversy by what it termed “disgruntled faculty members,” the university accused certain individuals of bypassing official channels, misusing their positions, and issuing defamatory statements against the institution.
Registrar G. Naresh Reddy stated emphatically, “The university will not tolerate any actions that harm OU’s reputation. We wish to reiterate that no official recognition, validity, or authenticity is given to representations made under the name of the expired OUTA. The administration is prepared to initiate disciplinary and legal action, in accordance with university regulations and relevant laws, against any individual who misuses the OUTA identity or propagates false information.”
