Imagine the thrill of unboxing your brand-new, top-of-the-line smartphone, only to discover a box full of broken tile pieces. That’s precisely the nightmare a Bengaluru-based software engineer, Premanand, recently experienced after placing an online order for a high-end mobile device valued at a staggering ₹1.85 lakh.
Premanand, a resident of K.S. Layout, was eagerly awaiting his premium smartphone. When the much-anticipated package arrived on schedule, he wisely decided to record the unboxing process – a decision that would soon prove crucial. As he opened the parcel, his excitement quickly turned to disbelief and then outrage upon finding nothing but useless fragments of ceramic tile where his expensive new phone should have been.
Attempts to reach the delivery executive immediately after this shocking discovery were met with silence. With no other recourse, Premanand promptly reported the incident through the National Cybercrime Reporting (NCRP) Portal. Following this, he also formally lodged a complaint with the local Kumaraswamy Layout Police Station. Authorities have since initiated a thorough investigation into this brazen case of online shopping fraud, aiming to uncover how such a costly deception occurred.
