Odisha’s Chief Minister, Mohan Majhi, recently announced a significant boost to the state’s economy, revealing that his government has approved 260 industrial projects over the past 15 months. These projects represent a massive investment of ₹5.6 lakh crore and are projected to create 3.6 lakh potential jobs across Odisha.
Highlighting immediate progress, Majhi shared that foundation stones have already been laid virtually for 84 of these projects. These specific initiatives alone account for over ₹2 lakh crore in investment and are expected to directly generate 1.64 lakh jobs. During a recent event, the Chief Minister inaugurated 27 industrial projects across 12 districts, which collectively involve an investment exceeding ₹25,000 crore and promise to provide stable employment for more than 52,000 young individuals.
According to the State Government, this influx of investment underscores a growing confidence among industrial players in Odisha’s governance and policy framework, positioning the state as a prime industrial destination. Chief Minister Majhi emphasized Odisha’s strategic shift towards attracting high-value production, with the ultimate goal of transforming the state into the manufacturing powerhouse of eastern India. He further noted that Odisha is actively enhancing its manufacturing capabilities to produce goods competitive on a global scale.
Adding to this perspective, State Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain credited Odisha’s efficient administration and conducive industrial environment for its rise as a leading state with vast industrial potential.
