As World Stroke Day approaches on October 29th, the Indian Stroke Association (ISA) has designated the entire month of October as “Stroke Awareness Month” across the nation. This vital campaign is rallying under the impactful theme, “Brain Stroke – Time to Act,” underscoring the urgency of understanding and responding to this critical medical emergency.
Kicking off the initiative, a compelling public awareness poster was ceremoniously unveiled at Lalitha Hospital in Guntur. The unveiling was a collaborative effort, graced by the presence of Joint Collector Ashutosh Shrivastava, district medical and health officer Dr. K. Vijayalakshmi, Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Guntur district coordinator Dr. Jaya Prakash, alongside ISA president Dr. P. Vijaya, and Lalitha Hospital managing director Dr. P. V. Raghava Sarma. Several government health and GST officials also attended, highlighting broad support for the cause.
These crucial awareness posters are set to be prominently displayed across all Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Urban Health Centres (UHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), and various government hospitals throughout the Guntur district. Dr. Vijaya further highlighted a significant public health benefit: government hospitals are now offering CT scans and vital clot-busting drugs for thrombolysis entirely free of charge. Medical professionals are passionately urging everyone to learn and recognize the tell-tale symptoms of a stroke. Their collective message is clear: swift action and immediate medical attention are paramount in preventing severe long-term disability and ultimately saving precious lives.
