In a significant breakthrough, authorities in Seethangoli have apprehended the primary suspect in a brutal attempted murder case. The individual, identified as 34-year-old Akshay from Badiyadaka, is believed to be a notorious gang leader with a history of criminal offenses under the Badiyadaka police station’s jurisdiction.
The incident unfolded late Sunday night, around 11:30 p.m. (October 5th), in Seethangoli town. Akshay, along with a group of accomplices, allegedly launched a violent assault on Anil Kumar, a 30-year-old fish trader, amidst a heated financial disagreement. While the attackers reportedly aimed for Anil Kumar’s neck, he sustained a severe stab wound to his thigh instead. Prompt medical attention saw him rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru, where he underwent complex surgery for his injuries.
Following Akshay’s arrest by a dedicated team led by Kumbala Police Inspector P.K. Jijesh and Sub-Inspector K. Sreejesh, the police are now intensifying their search for the remaining twelve individuals involved in the attack. Two vehicles linked to the case have already been confiscated, and three other individuals are currently being interrogated for their suspected involvement in the incident.
