In a significant breakthrough, Bapatla district police recently apprehended a prolific burglar linked to numerous daytime home invasions across both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Authorities successfully recovered stolen property estimated to be worth a staggering ₹8 lakh.
District Superintendent of Police B. Umamaheswar revealed that the dedicated Bapatla CCS team successfully tracked down and arrested the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Kodirekka Vijay Kumar, a resident of Yadlapadu village in Palnadu district. The arrest took place at the Medarametla Bypass Junction, located near Addanki.
During a media briefing, CCS DSP P. Jagadeesh Naik disclosed that Kumar had a history of criminal activity, having been previously involved in eight separate theft cases spanning both Telugu states. His recent spree included six burglaries committed within the jurisdictions of Addanki, Santamaguluru, and Martur police stations, specifically targeting homes that appeared vacant during daylight hours.
From Kumar’s possession, police seized a significant haul: gold ornaments valued at ₹5.7 lakh, silver ornaments worth ₹30,000, ₹1.15 lakh in cash, and a motorbike valued at ₹70,000. It was reported that the accused, who worked as a daily wage laborer, committed these thefts primarily to support his personal habits.
