February 22nd is a special day in Japan, known as ‘Ninja Day’ (a playful nod to how 2/22 can sound like ‘ni-ni-ni’). What better way to celebrate than with exciting news from the world of Nintama Rantaro! This long-running and beloved children’s anime has just unveiled a charming new key visual for its upcoming 34th season, set to debut on March 30th.
The delightful new visual features Rantaro and his friends, the trainee ninjas, enjoying a relaxed fishing trip, dressed in casual attire. It offers a fresh and heartwarming preview of the adventures awaiting fans.
Known internationally as Ninjaboy Rantaro, the series first premiered in Japan way back in 1993 and has since captivated audiences for an incredible run of over 2,500 episodes. Its popularity has also extended to the big screen, inspiring three feature films, with the most recent one released in 2024.
The heartwarming story of Nintama Rantaro follows Rantaro, Kirimaru, and Shinbei, who, despite their aspirations, are far from being excellent ninjas. As they embark on their rigorous training at the ninja school, they are joined by a colorful cast of eccentric friends, wise (and sometimes silly) ninja masters, and inspiring senior ninja trainees. Their journey is filled with a myriad of comical mistakes and misunderstandings, creating a foundation for endless fun and entertainment for viewers of all ages.
