The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant arrest in Munnar, Idukki, apprehending an individual suspected of being a Maoist operative.
Authorities have identified the arrested person as Sawan Tutu Dinabu, a 30-year-old from Jharkhand. For the past year and a half, Dinabu had been residing and working as a plantation laborer on the Godarvilla Estate in Munnar.
The NIA team, supported by the Kerala Police, conducted the arrest late Monday night, around 10:30 p.m. Following his apprehension, Dinabu was taken to the Munnar police station before being transported to Kochi with an escort from the Idukki police. He is expected to be presented before the NIA court in Kochi.
Sources indicate that Dinabu is a key suspect in a tragic LED bomb blast that occurred on March 4, 2021, in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district. This attack resulted in the deaths of three officers from the Jharkhand Jaguar (Special Task Force) and left several others injured. The NIA had filed a chargesheet against 19 individuals in connection with this case on September 7, 2021, but Dinabu had remained at large until now. His wife was also reportedly with him in Munnar at the time of his arrest.
The NIA had been closely monitoring Dinabu’s activities, leading to his eventual capture.
