The Nellore Rural Assembly constituency has distinguished itself by achieving the highest completion rate for the ‘Chandranna Vidyut Velugulu’ scheme across Andhra Pradesh. This initiative aims to deliver uninterrupted 24-hour power supply and robust three-phase current throughout the state.
This crucial scheme, implemented in Andhra Pradesh, is a key component of the Union government’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), launched in 2021. The RDSS focuses on modernizing the electricity distribution network and rolling out smart metering solutions to significantly reduce transmission losses.
Overall, SPSR Nellore district is leading the state in work progress with an impressive 59.4% completion, closely followed by Bapatla district at 59.51%.
Leadership in APSPDCL Coverage
Within the operational area of the Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL), based in Tirupati, Nellore circle clearly outpaces other districts. While Nellore boasts a 59.4% completion rate, other districts show considerably lower progress: Tirupati (36.75%), Chittoor (33.73%), Annamayya (41.04%), Kadapa (34.45%), Anantapur (17.65%), Sri Sathya Sai (38.76%), Kurnool (41.35%), and Nandyal (21.29%).
Nellore Rural’s Remarkable Achievement
Breaking down the figures within SPSR Nellore district, the Nellore Rural constituency has achieved an outstanding 97% progress. This remarkable feat places it far ahead of its neighboring Assembly segments. For comparison, other constituencies in the district show much lower completion rates: Atmakur (65%), Udayagiri (50%), Kovur (40%), Kavali (35%), and Sarvepalli (20%).
Essentially, Nellore Rural’s completion rate is arguably the highest for any single constituency throughout the entire state. MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy attributed this significant progress to his team’s consistent efforts. They maintained regular follow-ups not only with electricity engineers but also with the sub-contractors responsible for executing the project.
“We conduct a tele-conference with the executing agencies twice a week to monitor progress,” Reddy explained. “Furthermore, I receive personal ground reports from our village-level teams to independently verify the reported figures.”
Chief Minister’s Commendation
During his recent visit to Nellore, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was personally briefed on this achievement by Mr. Sridhar Reddy. Reports indicate that Mr. Naidu warmly praised Reddy’s efforts and encouraged other legislators to replicate his consistent delivery of results.
It’s worth noting that Mr. Sridhar Reddy has previously garnered praise from both Mr. Naidu and Mr. Nara Lokesh for successfully completing and inaugurating numerous development projects in his constituency. His accomplishments have even been highlighted in their posts on social media platforms like ‘X’ (formerly ‘Twitter’).
