In a significant move to boost passenger convenience and digital accessibility, the Bengaluru Division of South Western Railway (SWR) has rolled out its QR-based digital navigation system, Namma Nakshe, across 14 additional railway stations.
Originally introduced at the bustling KSR Bengaluru Station, the user-friendly Namma Nakshe platform is now available at major hubs including Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) Bengaluru, Bangarapet Junction, Kengeri, Krishnarajapuram, Yelahanka Junction, Karmelaram, Hosur, Hindupur, Mandya, Ramanagaram, Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Nilayam, Tumakuru, and Whitefield stations.
This intuitive web-based platform, found at www.nammanakshe.com, offers passengers real-time, station-specific navigation through an interactive digital map. Travelers simply scan a QR code prominently displayed throughout the station premises to access a detailed 2D layout. This map guides them to essential facilities like platforms, exits, foot overbridges, subways, waiting halls, restrooms, lifts, escalators, ramps, drinking water points, and catering stalls.
Essential Features of Namma Nakshe:
Comprehensive Information at Your Fingertips
An SWR official highlighted that “the application provides image-based guidance and smart route suggestions, making it incredibly simple for passengers to navigate between concourses and platforms. It also centralizes crucial information, from cloakroom and parking fees to battery car service charges, and vital contact numbers for wheelchair assistance, the RPF Helpline, and the Child Helpline.”
With this expansion, Namma Nakshe now offers real-time digital station maps across a wider network of key railway stations in and around Bengaluru. “This initiative is specifically designed to enhance wayfinding, proving particularly beneficial for senior citizens, passengers traveling with heavy luggage, and families with young children,” the official further elaborated.
By clearly indicating the location of ramps and lifts, Namma Nakshe significantly boosts inclusive mobility, ensuring smoother and more accessible movement throughout the stations. The official concluded, “The application has truly evolved into an indispensable digital companion for passengers, seamlessly integrating navigation, accessibility, and comprehensive service information into one convenient platform.”
