A Historic Day for Women’s Heart Health in India
In a monumental effort to champion women’s health across the nation, Narayana Health successfully organized a massive one-day free ECG screening drive, examining an incredible 11,786 women across its network of hospitals and healthcare centers. This impressive initiative was a proud contribution to the Government of India’s ‘Swasth Naari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ (Healthy Woman, Empowered Family Campaign).
The primary goal of these widespread screenings was to spotlight the critical importance of early detection for cardiovascular diseases in women. Alarmingly, heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women in India, responsible for nearly 18% of all female fatalities, as highlighted by data from the Global Burden of Disease Study. By offering these vital screenings, Narayana Health aims to empower women with crucial knowledge about their heart health.
This year’s achievement marks a significant milestone, more than tripling the hospital’s previous record of 3,797 ECGs performed in a single day last year (which included both men and women). Narayana Health City in Bengaluru led this extraordinary campaign, personally conducting over 5,500 of the total ECGs, showcasing their dedication to community well-being.
