In a significant development for military education aspirants, the Sainik School Society, operating under the Union Ministry of Defence, has announced the addition of another institution in Tamil Nadu. SRRI SPK Public Senior Secondary School, located in Namakkal district, has now been officially recognised to admit candidates for the upcoming All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) in 2026. This latest inclusion brings a valuable new option for students seeking quality education with a focus on defense services.
With this new addition, Tamil Nadu now boasts five approved Sainik Schools available for prospective AISSEE 2026 candidates. These include the long-standing Sainik School in Amaravathinagar (Tiruppur district), alongside newer additions: Vallaba Vidyalaya in Madurai, Kailash Maansarovar School in Salem, and Jayanthi Public Senior Secondary School, also in Tiruppur. This growing network aims to provide broader access to the unique curriculum and training offered by Sainik Schools across the state.
Regarding admissions, a national reservation policy is in place across the 33 Sainik Schools in India. Approximately 67% of seats are designated for permanent residents of the State or Union Territory where the school is located, while the remaining 33% are allocated to candidates from other States and Union Territories. It is important to note, however, that the current seat reservation framework in Sainik Schools is subject to the final judgment of an ongoing appeal filed before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.
