Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar recently paid a visit to the family of the late, acclaimed novelist and literary icon, S.L. Bhyrappa. He met with Bhyrappa’s wife, Saraswathamma, and son, Ravishankar, extending his heartfelt condolences.
Mr. Yaduveer explained that his visit was delayed due to the ongoing Dasara festivities and prior religious commitments. Now that these engagements have concluded, he made it a point to personally express his sympathies to the grieving family.
Following his visit, the Mysuru MP formally appealed to the State government to honor S.L. Bhyrappa with the prestigious Karnataka Ratna award posthumously. He emphasized that Bhyrappa’s profound literary contributions brought immense recognition to Mysuru and Karnataka on a global scale.
Furthering his tribute, Mr. Yaduveer also submitted a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, proposing that the Mysuru City Central Library be renamed in honor of Bhyrappa. He additionally urged the government to establish a permanent memorial within the library premises, dedicated to showcasing the novelist’s remarkable life and enduring literary legacy.
Reflecting on the loss, Mr. Yaduveer stated that Bhyrappa’s passing has cast a deep pall of sorrow across the entire State. He affirmed that while the literary giant may no longer be with us physically, his words and extensive writings ensure his immortality.
