The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is issuing a stern warning to all businesses operating within its jurisdiction: prioritize Kannada on your signboards, or face the serious consequence of losing your trade license.
Under this new and emphatic mandate, every commercial establishment within MCC limits must ensure that at least 60% of the text displayed on their name boards is in Kannada. The MCC has clearly stated that failure to comply with this crucial requirement will directly result in the cancellation of trade licenses and the eventual closure of non-compliant establishments.
MCC Commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif highlighted in a recent press release that, despite repeated public awareness campaigns and official advisories, a significant number of businesses have yet to adhere to the directive emphasizing the importance of Kannada on their signboards.
The guidelines specify that the Kannada text must be prominently positioned on the upper section of the name board, occupying a minimum of 60% of the total display space. The remaining 40% of the signboard area may be utilized for other languages, such as English, if desired by the business owner.
