In a momentous event held at Mysuru’s Town Hall on Saturday, District in-charge Minister H.C. Mahadevappa proudly unveiled a new plaque featuring the beautifully engraved Preamble of the Indian Constitution.
During the ceremony, Dr. Mahadevappa emphasized the profound importance of the Preamble, calling it a unifying force for all citizens. He expressed his wish for its message to resonate within every home across the nation, strengthening the bonds of unity.
The Minister lauded the Mysuru City Corporation for their thoughtful initiative in placing this substantial stone plaque in such a prominent public space. He believes this strategic installation will significantly boost public awareness and understanding of our foundational legal document.
Expressing deep concern over perceived attempts to undermine or alter the Constitution, Dr. Mahadevappa urged increased vigilance and solidarity, particularly among the Dalit community. He invoked B.R. Ambedkar’s powerful message of education, organization, and struggle as essential for protecting these democratic ideals.
Adding his voice to the occasion, Jnana Prakash Swami of Urilinga Peddi Mutt shared his immense pride that this Preamble plaque found its home in Karnataka’s cultural capital. He highlighted the Preamble’s role as the nation’s protective shield, upholding the crucial principle of equal respect for all faiths.
Jnana Prakash Swami further advocated for every Indian household to proudly display the Preamble, recognizing its powerful message of equality and brotherhood that binds the diverse people of India.
Distinguished attendees at the unveiling included Pushpa Amarnath, Vice-Chairperson of the State Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority; MLCs Shivakumar and Manje Gowda; Arun Kumar, District Guarantee Scheme President; former Mayor Purushottam; G. Lakshmikant Reddy, Deputy Commissioner; S. Yukesh Kumar, Mysuru Zilla Panchayat CEO; and other senior officials from the Social Welfare Department, all witnessing this significant civic event.
