On Saturday, September 27th, the serene Mypadu Beach in Nellore buzzed with activity as the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) organized a dedicated coastal cleanup drive. Asok Kumar, the Regional Officer of APPCB, highlighted that this vital program is an integral part of the larger National Coastal Mission (NCM) scheme.
The NCM, a pivotal initiative by the Central government, is committed to the comprehensive conservation and management of India’s delicate coastal environments. Its objectives encompass safeguarding diverse marine biodiversity, mitigating climate change risks through strategic interventions like mangrove and coral reef preservation, fostering sustainable beach development, advancing marine ecosystem research, and launching public awareness campaigns to inspire collective action.
The event garnered considerable support, with Nellore RDO Naga Santosh Anusha gracing the occasion as the chief guest. Demonstrating strong community involvement, the team from SEIL Energy India Limited, spearheaded by its Safety head Gnanadesigan, actively participated alongside personnel from various other local industries, all contributing to the success of this important environmental endeavor.
