Mumbai is set to welcome a new era of cruise tourism with the inauguration of its largest and most advanced cruise terminal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT) today, marking a significant step forward for the nation’s maritime sector.
Located at Indira Dock, the MICT is a testament to India’s commitment to port development. The terminal’s design draws inspiration from the sea, featuring a striking wave-like pattern on its ceilings and distinct blue benches that evoke the ocean’s aesthetic. Complementing these are waiting chairs in warm orange and red hues, all under mood-setting lights that transform the lobby’s ambiance. The exterior also boasts a large LED screen, adding a modern touch to the waterfront.
Designed to accommodate millions of passengers annually, the MICT aims to provide a luxurious experience for both domestic and international cruise tourists. Key features include 72 immigration check-ins for swift processing, ample parking for 300 vehicles, and the capacity to dock five cruise ships simultaneously across its impressive 415,000 square feet of space. This development is a cornerstone of the ‘Cruise Bharat Mission’, adhering to the highest global standards.
The opening of the MICT is anticipated to significantly boost cruise tourism in India, offering world-class facilities and a welcoming gateway for visitors exploring the country.
