A 32-year-old man has been apprehended in Mumbai’s western suburbs for allegedly endangering a woman’s life by driving with her on the bonnet of his car after a disagreement. The incident, which occurred in Borivali West, led to the woman sustaining injuries after falling from the vehicle. The accused, identified as Vinit Ghiya, faces charges of rash driving and assaulting a woman.
According to police reports, Ghiya and the victim, who works at a spa, were friends and had attended a party. After the party concluded in the early morning, an argument ensued between them while Ghiya was dropping her home. The dispute reportedly began when Ghiya snatched the woman’s phone during the altercation.
The woman alleged that Ghiya verbally abused and physically assaulted her. The situation escalated as Ghiya continued to drive at high speed with the woman still on the car’s bonnet, causing her to fall onto the road. He then fled the scene.
Authorities have stated that both individuals were likely under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Passersby assisted the injured woman and took her to a local hospital. Ghiya was subsequently arrested, presented in court, and taken into police custody. CCTV footage also aided in his identification and arrest.
