During a recent public meeting in Rajamahendravaram, Members of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj (Delhi) and D. Purandeswari (Rajamahendravaram), along with Minister of Tourism Kandula Durgesh, passionately urged citizens to support the ‘One Nation-One Election’ initiative. This proposal, often referred to as ‘Jamili,’ aims to synchronize elections for both the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies across India.
Addressing the gathering, which was organized by the BJP, Ms. Purandeswari highlighted the profound benefits of implementing such a system. She emphasized that simultaneous elections would lead to considerable reductions in election-related costs and significantly free up national time. By minimizing the periods dictated by the election code of conduct, she argued, the country could notably enhance its Gross National Product and increase overall productive working hours. The discussion saw participation from representatives of both the Congress and Left parties, underscoring the broad interest in this crucial electoral reform.
